Paris Saint-Germain Edges Olympique de Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

PSG has now won the prestigious cup on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic equaliser followed by a perfect spot-kick decider to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a straightforward win in the match featuring the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the scoring early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a shock lead. First, the English forward converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying moments to force the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then emerged as the hero, saving decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout win.

The record winners PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
